Norway ranked at the end of 2006 as the world’s third largest gas exporter, and met about 15 per cent of Europe’s needs for this commodity. The Norwegian ability to deliver has great significance for security of supply in such countries as the UK, Germany and France.
In other words, the way we at Gassco exercise our operatorship has significance for the energy requirements of millions of people. This is a big responsibility, and one we will approach with respect. But there is no need to allow our operator duties and the importance of secure supplies to keep us awake at night.
