Gassco Main Data Collection (GMDC)

According to Chapter 9 § 66A of the Petroleum Regulations, Gassco shall receive the information necessary to ensure the efficient operation and further development of the Norwegian gas pipeline network and associated facilities. GMDC (Gassco Main Data Collection) is the process for collecting this information from the operators.

Reporting of field data to Gassco is coordinated with the Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s reporting for the Revised National Budget (RNB). The reporting schedule for both Gassco and the Directorate is available on the Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s website (in Norwegian).

All operators are required to report estimates and information related to future gas export from their respective fields and discoveries. All fields and discoveries on the Norwegian Continental Shelf that contain natural gas are subject to this reporting requirement.

Reporting to Gassco shall be carried out through Offshore Norge’s Collabor8 solution. Further guidance on how to use the solution is available on Offshore Norway’s website. The GMDC Guideline describes which data shall be reported.

Prior to submission in Collabor8, the data must be validated against a set of rules to ensure sufficient data quality. A description of validation rules and associated error messages can be downloaded on this page.

Part of the data reported to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate is also used in the reporting to Gassco. For details on format and validation of shared data, reference is made to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s guidelines.
